What will you find in The Old Button Shop? You’d be disappointed if you didn’t find it mostly full of buttons wouldn’t you? So……buttons galore is your first discovery.

All buttons are reclaimed and recycled ready for you to repurpose. Whatever your project, sewing or art, the button you need is already out there in the world. Why buy new? All my buttons have been collected from old button boxes and charity shops and old garments. All buttons are washed, properly dried and de-threaded. By their very nature, they are imperfect. If you don’t like flaws, if you are looking for perfect, then buying new is probably best for you. If you prefer a little humanity in your buttons then you are in the right place.

Have a good rummage, mind the cobwebs, it’s a dusty kind of shop, you don’t know what you might find.

Some of the buttons you’ll find here are matched with partners and packaged beautifully. My button obsession is the joy of discovery, the fun of cleaning and sorting, the organising and displaying. 90% of my packaging is recycled finds from The Dorset Scrapstore. The PVC backing cards here came from old furniture I believe! I spend a lot of time in finding new ways to make attractive ways to give buttons their new life. If I paid myself an hourly wage I estimate…. hmm, about 2 pence per hour!

It isn’t about making money, it is about the joy of doing! However, if I can re-sell some buttons in order to find some new button tins and start all over, then that’s wonderful.

Once buttons are colour sorted they can also be sold by weight in small packets. This is ideal for anyone creating button art. I do my best to take old threads out and sort colours with reasonable accuracy, this might still be a bit of a lucky dip! Some sneaky buttons still insist on jumping into the wrong colour pot.

There is plenty of stock in the button shop. All transactions are done through eBay so if you find something in this shop that isn’t listed over there, then message me on eBay and I will list it straight away for you.

You may also find some very old exciting button tins. Discovering a new tin full of buttons is such fun. People keep all sorts of old stuff in them. I love looking through them. I am mindful of the fact that each tin probably comes from someone who has most likely passed away. Keeping all buttons and bits and pieces is less popular now. I hope to liberate some of these items in my shop.

Have a look at Old postcards, Books or the Rummage Box (of Obscurity).

Like I said – mind the cobwebs and dust and enjoy your time here.
